I 3D printed this awesome scaled F1 car without electronics! This model was downloaded from Thingiverse. It’s meant as an open RC model, but i use it as decoration only. How did i make it?

I printed all plastic parts in two different colors, black and yellow. I mostly printed with PolyTerra™ PLA. To create a cool color combination, i 3D printed the dual extrusion parts too. You see the yellow nose has a black top. The most parts can be printed in one single color. You can watch the video i made about this 3D printed F1 car below.

A quick look at how i built this F1 car

So i didn’t use electronics in this 3D print. I found some M3 screws that fitted and for the bearings, i 3D modeled and printed some simple bearings that i created in FreeCAD. These ‘bearings’ were the same size as the ones i needed and are fine when you want to use this F1 car purely as decoration. The wheels can turn smoothly enough! I also made a video tutorial about creating these bearings in FreeCAD.

Altogether, i’m really happy with this amazing 3D print! Even without RC elements. Finally, i finished the model with a cool 3D printed helmet with face. I made a short video about this, where you can also find the link in the description to download this helmet. This non-RC F1 car can shine on a nice place in your home or at the office for example. The model is created by Daniel Norée. Visit the web page of the full build guide here. Also don’t forget to check out his YouTube channel. I hope i got you inspired to build some cool 3D prints!
